Science & Technology

My research on the German rocketeers in Huntsville, Alabama, introduced me to space history, the history of science and technology, and science and technology studies. In order to complete this research and write a book based on it, I have been a fellow twice at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) and received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Space and Aeronautics Administration (NASA) through the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) and the American Historical Association (AHA). I have also been a co-chair for the Science & Technology caucus of the American Studies Association from 2009-2014.

My course on the History of American Popular Culture included a strong focus on the role of technology in American society, and my course, titled Science & Science Fiction in Film explored how science fiction stories, films, and TV shows portray the relationship of science, technology, and society.
